American Cities have propagated the term “affordable housing” to gentrify black communities.

Yeah bc they're not actually affordable lol

Dave just wants even more expensive houses being built next to him

Yeah but you don’t relate to Dave and a lot of other successful black people and I mean that respectfully. And It’s not that simple.

Imagine using your money for something that’s not even your fault to begin with when there’s others capable of actually making that change. Why should you? Out of the goodness of your heart? Ok fine. And what if it completely fails? You said you tried? That’s fine. But everyone values money differently.

Lol what kinda take is this

Him being greedy and f***ing poor people is okay because he's black? Idk if you knew but black people disproportionately live in poverty, odds are that he's screwing over at least some black families with this move

I swear this type of thinking is like saying nahh let's not abolish slavery let's just have more black slaveowners

    Dumbass s***

    Talk to em

Was on the verge of homelessness twice last year and even though I have a good place to live now I was shaken in a way that will take a long time to recover from, if I'm able to at all

I'm not well enough right now to survive being homeless very long right now so it was very close to being a wrap for me

S***'s beyond traumatic, every time I hear people locking up next to me or coming up the stairwell I brace up preparing to get pulled out and there's a lot worse beyond that I'm dealing with daily now

You made it through all that tho proud of you and better things to come bro

Disproportionate influence on your city based on your wealth is like the definition of undemocratic

Well with that perspective, by constitution America is still a Republic we’ll run it as such. Good day sir.

This whole topic is about the ethics of the developer & not the actual project at hand. Most folks are pro Affordable Housing but it must be done with integrity, that’s something the dev company is lacking.

They’re encroaching on fence lines, refuses to rezones and I doubt that any of the apartment complexes will be mixed use. Folks aren’t getting the highest value for the project and that’s why the village is upset.

Why do Americans think that a republic means non-democratic

And no everybody isn't for affordable housing, Dave's objection is literally just that the housing isn't expensive enough lol

  • Feb 10, 2022

Bruh americans love jerking off to their so-called democracy until it's time to oppress poor people and minorities then it's WE'RE A REPUBLIC NOT A DEMOCRACY

He adjusted his set here in South Africa but his jokes were just not landing imo. He started talking about Chuck Berry, pretty much everyone in the audience didn't know who that is. And Dave mentions how this dude was urinating and s***ting on people And then from there it transitioned into the preachy s*** he does, I don't even know what point he was trying to make

I was disappointed af, feel like I paid just to say "I've seen Dave Chappelle live" rather than actually enjoying his show

So why is it then the case that he's fine with houses being built there if it's not affordable?

apparently these "affordable houses" are 300k each in value? lol can kinda see where he coming from now

Yeah they should be even less affordable instead!

We said the same thing but with a different approach. You raise the value by rezoning and adding mixed uses to the commercial properties. You add value by not encroaching on fence lines which impact the sq ft of existing properties. Etc etc.

Lol bruh with an FHA loan a 300k house can be bought at $10,500. That’s realistically easy to gather especially as a first time homebuyer. There are tons of programs that assist people in that process.

A brand new house for 300k is a steal

Switch your mindset up and learn various ways to purchase assets

you dont know a damn thing about me or my "mindset" bro, I don't need advice from you

my point was that 300k is expensive for housing meant to serve the most underprivileged in america, yeah. and its hard to get loans if a person is poor or in debt

It’s not 300k it’s 3.5% of any property. It’s an FHA loan which is usable for most properties. There are 1st time home owner programs that actually assist with finances, debt and credit scores.
