the feature on F***in Problems was also a big look for Kendrick too

That’s natural tho he was coming off his first album and on a song wit Drake 2chainz and Rocky. We could pin point all of his features wit “bigger” artist than he was at that time.

Again I’m not denying Drake helped but some of these people act as if Kendrick was f***in Blocboy JB

wtt was a suprise drop. physicals weren’t even available on time. culturally wtt had two hits that cleared marvin’s room or yolo or crew love

still doesn’t invalidate what draco did for lil llama

He ain’t even tag Kendrick on that song lol I remember it was niggas on KTT asking if that was Wayne. That feature and the tour def helped introduce them to Drake’s crowd. but people saying it put him on is a stretch because it’s not like we are talking about Drake of the last five years, who’s literally jump started careers wit a co sign.

Drake still had a lot to prove as did Kendrick. Also like you said in the other posts they had their own buzz at that time especially Kendrick. He was killin the blogs he just didn’t have a mainstream record yet.

Niggas just started listening to music in 2015 so i’m not even surprised lmao niggas don’t even know Take Care Era Drake like that. Most of these mfs from the Views era and it shows

2011 biggest rappers were Wayne and Ye, although Ye was coming off Taylor incident so his shine was more in the music quality and less in numbers like before. Wayne lost the choke hold he had on everybody when he went to jail. Kendrick was seen as the next rap great prodigy--had the Dre hype like a young Snoop lol Cole was on a similar buzz (Jay affiliation)due to his mixtapes and features--still remember his Looking For Trouble verse whew.

Drake was a different lane, something arguably even more exciting. He could rap and sing--his early rap style was very Wayne like and his hooks were insane in the early days. By 2012 he was already arguably #1. They(the big 3) all had their own buzz though. Drake albums were the most anticipated back then but GKMC made a big impact--still his best imo

    What?

CLB was the most streamed rap album of both 2021 and then in the top 5 of 22

    Are those all ktt posters???

What other metric is there to go off of

Bigger sales don’t always automatically equal bigger impact.

For example, 30 by Adele is the highest selling album of 2021, but I highly doubt anyone is arguing that was the most impactful and loved album of that year

Bro ask Drake himself if you get the opportunity. If it was that buzzing album then he wouldn't need to drop a surprise album not even an year after that and also joint album with 21

he didn't sent him to the moon. the interlude on Take Care was not that big. Don Toliver's feature on Astroworld was a bigger introduction of a new artist to the mainstream than that. Dre send K Dot to the moon

They don’t even remember there were people who didn’t even like the interlude lol It’s not like that s*** dropped and the next day the blogs were covering Kendrick

Dudes just forget the fact that Jay & Ye were still trying to lil homie Drake up until NWTS,one of the reasons he changed his image. It was different industry back in the early 10s,where sales didn't determine everything. Jay & Ye were the kings at that time cause they had the sales and the influence.

Drake changed the game in his favor, and made it about pures sales and popularity again.

Kendrick literally preformed for the Grammys in f***ing chains only to lose to Taylor swift. Drake boycotting the Grammys and winning none >>> being a Coon for a runner up awarx
