I love this pic. I’ve been listening to a ton of Iggy Pop and Lou Reed lately, and Bowie’s production on those albums was stellar. That would’ve been an incredible scene to be alive for and be around.

man to be alive in that era must've been quite the life to say the least lmao

Would you have ever bet your money on Iggy to be the last standing man of this trio?

Dude went into rehab and got so broke because of his addiction Bowie had to step in to cover his songs so he could live off of new income of songwriter credit money

The craziest part is that this isn’t isolated: of all the three Wilson brothers from The Beach Boys, Brian is the only left alive, the same dude who spent about 10 years straight in his bed overweight just taking heroine and s*** every day, got so bad he was scared to take showers because he thought the devil would come out the shower head

The fact that Iggy is still alive and still touring is astounding. I know he put his mind and body through absolute hell, so it’s kinda wild that he’s still going at it. Then again, Ozzy and Keith Richards are both still alive so maybe there’s something to the lifestyle

Also, I knew about Brian Wilson basically staying in bed all the time, but I didn’t realize his addiction got that crazy. That is insane.

I really love this whole album, Iggy and Bowie truly made some incredible music.

Yeah through out that era he also didn’t cut his nails and they grew really long (I know that’s a silly detail but if you ad that to the rest above it’s scary how bad it gets) but it got worse: In about 1982? not too long before Dennis’s tragic passing it got so bad that The Cocaine Sessions happened: at probably Brian’s lowest point? see photo:

Dennis tried to come up with a trick to get Brian active in some way and practice, as he admired his brother, so he came up with a deal: Brian would show up in session in return of cocaine and hamburgers, as an incentive.

This song that came from those sessions is absolutely heartbreaking to listen to knowing the history behind it, kinda like an sos message in a bottle:
