Tbh we shouldn't rule out TP probably, it could still be a spin-off or sequel which doesn't have any actual WA settings...

Also I guess we shouldn't underestimate Lynch's love for brands and running systems.

Plus (to me this is still a big thing because Lynch was seemingly very busy 2018 and 2019 doing promo and I don't see where he got the time to write an entire series) if this is a project he's already been preparing for, it's the most likely it is Twin Peaks ideas he had while writing S3 which didn't fit that script.

Honestly the biggest hint on it being TP might be Netflix, them willingly giving Lynch money for a free-form project with 200 shooting days is quite an investment, and they're focussed on profit... I feel like the Twin Peaks brand would have to have been the selling point.

Or he would have had to have a ridiculously strong idea to sell them on something new, but I'd say that's less likely

I doubt it's season 4 but the scale of the production and budget tells me it'll be less abstract than Inland Empire.

If it was TP, he’d be at Showtime. I’m certain the contract he signed would not allow him to just take a new season elsewhere. Also, they were hyped on S3, so I’m sure if he wanted a S4 then another Showtime season would be easier/better than moving everyone’s contracts to a whole new corporation
