yup, this is the type of success he shouldve been aiming for with this album, especially after AH. im pretty sure he knew this album wasnt gonna have a blinding lights. Theres no reason to recreate that record breaking impact in the hits department when he already did it.

So dawn being his critic darling should be all he cares about. and he succeeded. Now its time for the next in the trilogy to appeal to both those markets even harder than the last 2.

If he succeeds at that. This era would cement him as undenialy one of the greatest artists we’ve ever seen

    another one

    OMH - 4.5/5 musicomh.com/reviews/albums/the-weeknd-dawn-fm

"It might be instructive to compare Dawn FM to another big pop album of recent years: Sweetener by Ariana Grande, which involved multiple contributions from Max Martin (and his assorted colleagues) as well as Pharrell Williams, but never on the same song. The styles did not even remotely gel and as such the record turned out an incoherent mess, requiring a hasty three-point-turn in the form of thank u, next. With Dawn FM The Weeknd has demonstrated a vision that the vast majority of his peers would be incapable of, and has executed it with finesse and a slippery, enigmatic charm."

the times 5/5 review would boost the metacritic past 90. hope they make it elligible

  • Jan 14, 2022

two new reviews added, couldn't get the elusive 5/5 from All Music

    Meta drops to 88..

I mean HOB is loved by the fanbase for being consistent and still couldn't crack 90
