Involving Matt Reeves in the DCU Batman stuff is so confusing man. Any time I see his name I just assume it’s probably Reevesverse.

I'm going to assume that this movie is either a.) set earlier in the DCU timeline or b.) Basil Karlo was in Creature Commandos and not Matt Hagen

Not all DC Studios films are in the DCU ie The Batman but all films in the DCU are DC Studios. This is explicitly in the DCU. So Reeves has been involved with a film that takes place in the DCU and not just DC Studios Elseworlds. With his whole non-DCU Batverse you’d assume this was a non-DCU film. Interesting that it isn’t

After reading this, I’m even more confused as to why this is part of the DCU. This sounds like an Elseworlds film more than anything.

I understand that not every single DCU film has to be interconnected, but if one is SO singular and featuring brand new original characters and no characters from DC Comics besides the lead, why not just make it an Elseworlds story?

If the story was only "slightly different" in its evolution from Crime Saga to DCU, I think that says quite a bit about both how fantastical Reeves is willing to be and how not far off both Reeves and Gunn really are tho.

That's really surprising imo if Flanagan was able to pursue his pitched story for Crime Saga, and only required minor changes to move to DCU. Thats a stark difference from how strict fans are on what each universe can and can't do.

This implies we were about to have a Reevesverse shapeshifter, which some fans (oddly imo) were adamant could not happen at all
