Elseworlds film: DC character with isolated stories and/or original characters that aren’t connected to the DCU
What Clayface sounds like: DC character with isolated stories and/or original characters that aren’t connected to the DCU
What reasoning would there be for Clayface being a DCU film and not an Elseworlds film other than the fact that “the character can appear in a future film”? That’s not a strong enough reasoning whatsoever
Thats is literally a extremely strong reason to have it a DCU film tho.
And like I said earlier, the world in clayface will be the same world as the DCU where the timeline is the same.
They’re literally dividing their films into Chapters, why else do you think they’re doing that? And the MCU was never even as interconnected as some people say it was, this is gonna be 100% like that
In the early phase I agree. But once phase 2 hit it fully dive into the interconnectivity of it all

You can say this about literally any film if you try hard enough. Clayface will have original side characters, and original villain, and NO other DC characters in the film. The timeline is only gonna be the same to us because it was announced as a DCU film
In the early phase I agree. But once phase 2 hit it fully dive into the interconnectivity of it all
First DCU film: Superman, Supergirl tease at the end
Second DCU film: Supergirl
How is this not interconnected?
Even the TV shows have been interconnected. Rick Flag was in Creature Commandos and he pops up in Superman. Peacemaker has a small cameo in Superman. Like
You don’t do a shared universe if you’re not doing interconnectivity, it makes no sense
A movie like Clayface wouldn’t have gotten made period 15 years ago. We’re in a time where comic book films and characters are much more accepted. If the DCU started in 2008 they never would’ve made a damn Clayface movie
Im just saying that the mcu was hyperconnected where in phase 2 and 3, there just weren't random movies about random characters unless it pushed the Thanos saga forward.
As far as we know there's just gonna be events that span multiple movies/series but not something where a whole phase is dedicated just to driving one particular story forward. Thats subject to chance but as rn thats how it is

???
Ant-Man pushed the Thanos saga further?
The Winter Soldier pushed the Thanos saga further?
Homecoming pushed the Thanos saga further?
Black Panther pushed the Thanos saga further?

Fam....this is literally how comic book characters work in comic adaptations. They have their own comic line that follows a character own story that is in the same world. Like I said several times, they want to clayface to be apart of this dcu world and not a isolated story

I understand how comic book characters work. This is not a comic book series. This is the film industry. You don’t do an interconnected universe unless there is… interconnection between films. Gunn literally just said today he has a 10 year plan mapped out for an event film
I think something will def be revealed by the time we learn more about a future Batman project whether it be Reeves or DCU that clarifies this a bit more and adds its own hype.
In late 2022 we heard Reeves was fielding pitches for villain films/shows including potentially Clayface. In 2023 he was then rumored to be using the character in his script and then had competing rumors with DC over who Flanagan may be working with. Then all of a sudden its a Reeves produced project for DCU, but not directed by Flanagan (odd) while the Reeves Clayface rumors were still never debunked. Whatever his plans were at some point clearly run against fans ideas about whether he can be fantastical. Reeves also helped cast the lead.
This story idea feels intentionally removed from both direct DCU and Reevesverse connections so that the character could feasibly be used by either if needed. Over 2 years we went from both potentially wanting to do Clayface to both doing Clayface together

Ur missing the point im making man.
Phase 2 and phase 3 of the mcu was literally building up to this boss fight against Thanos
I never said the dcu wasnt gonna be interconnected, there's levels to how interconnected these titles are gonna be

This is basically what I’m trying to say. The fact that it’s a DCU film with seemingly no connections to the actual DCU is weird, and it seems like it has something to do with potentially folding the Reevesverse into everything
Ur missing the point im making man.

I just named four Phase 2 and Phase 3 movies that have absolutely nothing to do with Thanos and I can name even more
???
Ant-Man pushed the Thanos saga further?
The Winter Soldier pushed the Thanos saga further?
Homecoming pushed the Thanos saga further?
Black Panther pushed the Thanos saga further?
Did all these movies not have a role in the infinity war saga ???

Thats ur issue tho, Gunn has literally said he wants to make a live action comic book where these things happen.
Theres a difference between being connected and everything being super connected
Did all these movies not have a role in the infinity war saga ???
You just said every Phase 2 and 3 movie was building up to a boss fight against Thanos
Please tell us how a Scott Lang heist movie was building up to a fight against Thanos
The ONLY reason you’re saying that is because Thanos was teased a few times over the years and we KNEW he was coming in the future. If there were no post-credits teases for him, nobody would walk out of Spider-Man Homecoming thinking “oh I can’t wait to see this Thanos event film”
I just named four Phase 2 and Phase 3 movies that have absolutely nothing to do with Thanos and I can name even more
But all those movies literally did have something to do with the Thanos saga, they literally establish pivotal characters in the saga

And you said before Clayface is in the DCU so that the character can be used in future films. Is that not the same thing as establishing characters pivotal to the saga?

Well as of rn we have literally no idea if he's gonna be pivotal to a saga lol
And they're not planning on teasing or setting up dark seid as the big bad in the movie

Fam can u list me a phase 2 or 3 mcu movie where there was absolutely no element that was then used for infinity war and endgame ?
Like how come mcu didnt just make a movie about a character that had no part to play in those 2 movies ? Because they were building the characters up for those last 2 movies. This not even me assuming, this is literally what they planned to do lol

Yes they are man, you don’t do an event film without building towards it

Yes and then they moved away from that after Endgame and people complained that the universe is not connected enough. Which is exactly why the DCU isn’t doing that, it won’t work for general audiences. It’s partially why the DCEU was a failure too

U think darkseid gonna be tease and set up in clay face ?

Was Thanos teased and set up in Ant-Man?

Nah the major critique was the quality decrease and it was too connected where it became homework.
And the big bad they were setting up fell a part last minute
Thats all the more reason why the DCU should est that its going this direction early
I havent watched superman yet, but it looks like i dont even need to watch CC and Peacemaker to watch superman despite some of the same characters showing up
