As someone that has been on forums since like…maybe the age of 12 (tv.com and code lyoko forums) i think the difference between a lot of us and these new cats is like…we still had old school parents that were very mindful and cautious of what was going on the internet because it was still kind of new + we was the last gen that truly prioritized going outside (nickelodeon had a “touch grass” day where there was literally no shows on) so we had a balance.

Yeah, there was still creeps (AIM chatrooms and pdf files a tale as old as time) and even as an 8th grader, I met a classmate that was just casually talking bout her relationship with a 30 something year old man, had me like (but also i seen a situation at my ol private school where a high school girl got expelled for kissing a 6th grader.)

I think nowadays lines is blurred and parents today arent as cautious because they/we damn near grew up on the internet. So a lot of kids fall thru the cracks becoming losers or…whatever tf dv4d is.

This is where I am thankful I had a southern dad that was very much a “here’s mr. Belt/fist if you try to act stupid” typa parent. Obviously not how EYE would do things but my kid aint gon know what a computer is til 18 (im joking of course)
