As someone who works in a high school I promise the school knew when she went missing, and I'm sure the rumors the kids were spreading reached the admin too, it sounds like the girl's family had gone to the cops before (at least based on a screen recording of DMs with her brother I read earlier in this thread) but they said there wasn't enough evidence
