Yeah it’s a shame, and who’s to say they weren’t victims themselves so they truly don’t know any better. It sets a horrible precedent to expect children to think like an adult would and know better.
It’s a terrible situation overall. At most, they should have to take some classes or something. Their punishment will be growing up and knowing what they did.

Other than potentially something like community service or some sort of mandated therapy I don’t think they should face real legal consequences unless more is uncovered. I think most of their “accountability” should come from their peers anyways

Think we raise children as a whole to understand consent was a very early age and also understand proper parenting so that we have no future pedophiles to protect said children from in the 1st place.
