i've heard of it but it wasnt as toxic, prevalent and affecting artists consistently. realistically leak culture's been dating back since the late 2000s and leaks have been around since the 90s

Longer than that, bootleg recordings of artists' unreleased music have been circulating since compact cassettes were invented pretty much. But that's different to the 90s/00s culture of full albums leaking on the internet months before release, which is in turn different from the 2010s/2020s leak culture built around snippets, marketplaces, trackers, et cetera. All I wanted to point out is that you zoomie hip-hop fans are clueless to events in hip-hop that happened not even a decade ago, and give yourselves and the trash new gen rappers you stan false credits for being the first to do XYZ. But this really isn't the thread for it
