Black people listen to lots of experimental and “abstract” music. It’s just not seen as that by a lot of you guys because it doesn’t check certain boxes as to what you think experimental and abstract should be.
Not saying you’re wrong, but which artists are you referring to?
I think that's the point of what we're talking about though
What's cringey is when white people pick and choose which forms of black art they're willing to respect, and then shame black artists and even black culture for not producing art catered to their tastes as white people exploring a foreign culture to themselves. But you get this in every kind of black art lol
Point is, blame white people, not black creatives and their black fans lol. White people, writ large, in America, suck
Wait til you realize that there are large numbers, perhaps the majority even, of black oldheads, trap fans, and experimental hip hop fans, who find the large majority of their white counterparts within these scenes to be f***ing cringey too. JPEGMAFIA for example has repeatedly lambasted those types of white people lol
@backflipper has gone to every show this leg
The fact that the internet will slurp up Lil Yachty for making a bad psych rock album and act like he’s a totally different tier of artist now is proof in itself that a lot of you guys inherently see hip hop as a lesser art form.
On the flip side, a majority of rap fans violated it and still have so what does that tell you?
Btw I love Lil Boat 1 and MBB
They do
The number of white artists within hip hop itself who are consistently respectful to the craft and culture and aren't corny themselves are extremely small lol. El-P, Aesop, Beasties, Paul Wall, and Lil Ugly Mane might be the only ones who've never had a cringe era in their hip hop careers
edit: DJ Shadow as well. Bro fell off as a producer but he's never been like an embarrassing white guy overstaying his welcome in hip hop, and he's still cold as a DJ

I’d also throw Mac in that box too cause he always stayed true to himself despite the issues he had internally.

I agree Mac is one of the greatest white hiphop artists ever and he truly loved and respected the culture but tbf bro said “who never had a corny era” and Mac most def was corny before Macadelic/WMWTSO
he done made a whole ass album consisting of frat bro anthems

Eh that was a product of the time though and I still think Kids is one of his best projects. He always had good artistry to me
already been said but most of the tweets cited in the first page is just *phobia from the op lol
Really goes to show how much of what is consumed on a mainstream level is dictated by how America wants to see Black people as a monolithic race
Or if it's outdoors tbh
an indoor death grips concert without seating sounds like a mild form of torture
It was actually really great. Where I saw them there's seats up top but my friends and I were just in the pit the whole show
One had to leave from heat exhaustion but had fun still
nigga that Yachty album was doggy bag s***
he didn’t earn any points from me for that album, it was awful and a limp wristed attempt at psych rock
only the niggas on here who largely look down at 60s rock (if not rock in general, honestly) and whatever else were impressed with that s***
That album is solid
F*** no lmao
To be fair I've always liked Yachty so it was nice to hear him branch out into a different sound.
Even if you don't like him, the production is worth some praise imo.

It's not imo just a knockoff of one of tames worse albums
Pyrimid interpolation was neat but the vocals suck

aye, production wise it was pretty good, yachty was easily the least interesting part of the album by far genuinely sounds like he just got some musicians together to produce some great instrumentals and then sang whatever couple of vocal melodies came to his mind off rip, very unimpressive for me

Acting as if Tame invented Psych lol.
99% of albums are knock-offs if you look at it like that.
Not liking his vocals is a fair critique and won't argue against it

I'd have to tap out due to the heat lol, and if any peeing or something started
DG shows are similar to a lot of the grimiest punk shows in that it's anything goes in these events lol. They're truly not for the faint of heart

That's fair, his vocals aren't for everyone
