Things are looking great for the Directors Cut

I'm hearing the haptic feedback is some of the best on PS5 yet. And the triggers do indeed become harder to press down when you are carrying more weight

Performance mode is a flawless 60fps

Quality mode has frame dips during cut scenes

Ultra wide mode runs just as good as performance mode

Digital Foundry said 4K quality mode is 60 but dips to 50 during BT encounters & cutscenes might actually pick that over performance then

I love Death Stranding, but damn was I pretty disappointed in the fact that pretty much all the major supernatural occurrences were given pseudo-scientific explanations.

Feels like it cut back a lot on post release discussions of the game, because I remember the wild theories and interpretations that were being thrown around when all we had were the trailers.

Wish Kojima had kept things more abstract, but I guess he just can’t help himself.

    what

it’s a fictional story, it’s not trying to be real so it, by definition, can’t be pseudo-science, I think you’re looking for another word.

Also the concepts aren’t really even science based if that’s what you mean, there’s still a type of “afterlife” basically which is a spiritual concept

I meant pseudo-science as in a fictional depiction of science (as in science fiction obviously) but while dealing with supernatural/spiritual concepts as well (like astrology). It’s not a wholly accurate term, but I’m not sure if there is one outside of a blanket “science-fiction”.

In game it’s science, but I’m speaking of it as the fictional work that it is and how it’s fictitious supernatural elements are given scientific backing using our real-life mythologies that within their world ring true (at least to some degree).

I feel like it sort of marginalizes itself in a way by attempting to apply blunt explanations as opposed to leaving it more open to interpretation or speculation.

Techno-babble is a Kojima trademark, so it’s to be expected, but given the atmosphere of the game I think a less is more approach would’ve felt a bit more appropriate on that front.

He could certainly have offered some explanations, but at least keep it feeling a bit more speculative with gaps in between so that it doesn’t feel completely concrete and like “Oh, well that’s that then”.

I definitely think that massive Heartman cutscene kind of killed a lot of the potential discourse and discussions the game might have had on the narrative front.

Psuedo-science is science that is pretending to be real, it requires a claim that “this is real science” when in fact it’s bullshit. Nothing in a fictional narrative is pretending to be real, so that word doesn’t fit but I get what you were trying to say now.

As for the other points you just brought up, I don’t really follow, but I want to understand.

In my eyes, the game still presents hundreds of questions and things you can speculate about, what specifically happened in the Hartman cutscene that made it so you couldn’t, in your eyes?
