If this is at least as good as MGSV then it's worth playing imo

    Def agree.

Metal Gear one of Fav series & MGSV gameplay, systems & style is f***ing awesome; but that unfinished story, plot holes & open world that could have been even better if it was just zones or atleast have a third biome map like snow or sumn are huge glares. Still one of my fav games this gen, but those 9s & 10s are huge hyperbole imo.

Seems most people or gonna either love or hate it with little in between, we'll see when we all get our hands on it 🙌

85 on metacritic isn’t divisive at all, it’s universally acclaimed. luigis mansion 3 has an 86 and I think Its GOTY so far but I’m only 20 hours in or so and have floors 11-15 to discover

V excited for this & glad it's a bit divisive. No vanilla or zealous s***.

Don't even know if I'm gonna like, but I just know MGSV although I love it a lot, that did not deserve its 9s & 10s that it got.

And we might finally get a game besides BOTW that actually does something engaging with its open world traversal instead of just pushing up most of the time. Thats the mechanic I'm interested to see the most tbh. Its an area in open world design that really needs to be re-examined that only really BOTW has touched on, but this seems like its trying to do even more while still having traditional combat & quest encounters along the way.

I'm really into its concept in general within fiction too where you are trying to reconnect people or a society. Hopefully I do end up enjoying it.

I do think it's funny though how critics & even consumers cry for something "different" from "Mr. Shooty Guy", but then always lash out to some degree when different does come. Not just with this game, but others as well.

This game is giving me heavy BOTW vibes tbh

Just hearing Kojima talk about his inspiration In creating this game is making me hype, he really wants people to connect on a positive level, it’s dope to see his insight on his views of the world and people.

Fully agree about the world design. One of the main reasons I'm checking for Death Stranding is to see if it justifies its open world and makes meaningful use of all that space. I'm so over the gigantic shallow spaces that have become the norm.

The score is misleading though. Read the actual reviews. Like its reviewers giving it a high score but literally saying its either not good or not for the non-kojima fan or trashing it but giving it a 8/10 or 7/10 in their review which is weird. If you don't think the game is good how can you think its higher than a 5.

How you give the game an 8 but then say "The story isn't good and the controlls are complicated. I had a hard time learning the game and it lacks difficulty hmmm yup 8/10"

Couple of lines that stood out in this non - spoiler review.

"But if Kojima’s storytelling can be so convoluted and grandiose that it makes the finale of “Metal Gear Solid 4” feel like Chekhov, his vision has never been clearer. The prologue ends with Sam being roped into a rescue mission that devolves into the most spectacular and terrifying set piece I’ve seen in any medium this year."

"Players are elated when they finally receive guns that work against the BTs, only to find that the bullets draw from your own blood — fire too many and you’ll die."

"It’s a testament to the ingenious cargo mechanics and the staggering world-building that you never really stop to consider that you’re role-playing as a glorified Amazon courier."
