SegaDreamFlashFolks that haven’t played the game really can’t grasp that other people like the game that’s weird to me lol.
Literally seen people that never played a Kojima game before enjoying the hell out of this one.
Have also seen dudes that were s*** talking this game prior to it’s release changing their mind and enjoying it.
Like... it’s not that difficult to understand lol some people like the game.
If you don’t like it’s that’s fine too. But idk how niggas can just spend hours and days in a thread about a game they don't like or haven't played lmao

Bo CeephusI did play the game. I didnt buy it though. The transition from the excellent Metal Gear series to this is jarring to say the least. If you really enjoy it I guess that's for you. But from playing it really seems alot of fans are just giving him a pass. It's glitchy the controls are meh and taking that element of the elder scrolls series where you struggle to work over s***ty terrain trying to glitch into a shortcut but making that your main priority is awful imo.
If that's your thing I guess that's that. I think kojima's attitude towards people who dislike that is truly shocking and immature. "If you dont like it you dont get it, you just like mindless FPS games"
That's a hotter take than anything anyone has said in this thread and disappointing coming from a director that many hailed and as soon as he drops a dud he starts acting like a brat.I can kinda see where people are coming from story wise as that at least seems like it may be up to par with metal gear, but then again I never thought the story was the best part of those games.

The game isn’t about glitching over terrain it’s about building things, using tools, you can do huge jumps with the exoskeletons, you can build roads over the terrain, you could use ladders ropes or bridges, it’s absolutely nothing like Skyrim

I didn’t even say anything about whether you’ll like it or not, or whether he should, just that he can’t even describe the game correctly which is an obvious tell that you had a short, surface level experience with a few of the very first gameplay elements

I highly doubt it's that deep my guy. Maybe the story will have more layers to it. But after researching enough and actually playing the gameplay seems to be this with extra options and guns opening up to you later on. It doesnt have to be a shooter for me to enjoy it. It's not the story I hate or even the purpose of him dropping a game like this, it's just the core mechanics I disagree with.

I did play it. I've stated that a couple times at least. You don't have to subject yourself to 60 hours of gameplay to know the game isnt for you.
You dont have to throw a tantrum. If it takes an entire game to get why it's so purposefully s***ty then that seems like a giant waste of your time.
The story can be the deepest most complex narrative of all time and it would still be bogged down by you having to play the dark souls of walking lmao.
I can see we're not getting anywhere with this so I'm good. Our viewpoints wont change from this conversation

I did play the game. I didnt buy it though. The transition from the excellent Metal Gear series to this is jarring to say the least. If you really enjoy it I guess that's for you. I've seen everybody criticize the game after playing like what the first 3 chapters? Since you want to use Metal Gear as an example let's talk about how Metal Gear Solid 2 bait and switched you with Snake and then made you spend the rest of the game as Raiden.
Or even how Metal Gear Solid 3 really doesn't pick up until you find out that The Boss is a traitor and she beats your ass.
When has a game developed by Kojima Productions given you everything you're gonna know about the game in the first 5 minutes let alone an hour?
And since we're talking about the game's pacing and such I assume you must really HATE the first couple of hours of Breath Of The Wild
2) That quote was a mistranslation from an Italian publication who interviewed a Japanese game developer who doesn't even speak perfect English. People took that and ran with it because Kojima's become such a big name in the industry that he has both a fandom and people who have a hate boner for him. And 3 of the biggest selling games of the last 12 months have been FPS / shooters including Call Of Duty.
I've said it before that American audiences aren't dumb but it's harder to sell s*** that has mechanics isn't streamlined to us. It took Fire Emblem decades to get popular and Monster Hunter had to simplify its mechanics before it got bigger over here. Hell, look at the way fighting games are received over here vs some place like Japan or something.

Not gonna read all of this but you need to get off KTT and hear other opinions if you think MGS5 had divisive reception.
5 years later and i'm sure most would still regard it as one of the best gameplay experiences of these past years.
