Just don’t get how The Black Album isn’t clear number 1
I love The Black Album I just think the performance in The Blueprint was better. He was a beast
Dynasty is very underrated better than the Vols for me
Not sure I'd rank it above Vol. 1.
Here's my own ranking including collabs.
1. Blueprint
2. Reasonable Doubt
3. Black Album
4. 4:44
5. Vol. 1
6. American Gangster
7. Vol. 2
8. Watch The Throne
9. Dynasty
10. Vol. 3
11. Blueprint 2
12. Collision Course
13. Kingdom Come
14. Blueprint 3
15. Everything Is Love
16. Magna Carta Holy Grail
17. Best Of Both Worlds
18. Unfinished Business
Personally I'd swap Vol. 2 with Vol. 1 just off the strength of Where I'm From and Imaginary Players.
there was a whole debate about how underrated Vol. 1 is around covid time and how HOV downplayed the album because he thought that the album wasn’t overall well received cause of reactions to certain s*** like Sunshine video
Questlove said: Our main argument is his hate for Vol 1. He is embarrassed for trying to make a monster & not putting numbers up. But ALOT of this lp contains his best moments. Fight me Jay-Z”
Jay said: “Agreed . More so, I know what could have been, so it haunts me … streets is watching was the first song made !”
It’s reductive
Isn’t it interesting to hear what they think?
Sure it takes away from the lower rated projects maybe… but you can have your own thoughts about them
BP2 is underrated to me
If you compress it to one album, there’s a solid 10-12 songs on there. Lot of good songs
OP great thread. I’ve been thinking about doing this with multiple artists next year and documenting my thoughts like you
Thread made me wanna bump Hov all day salute
Same might run through most of his albums today

Do it
been off Hov for a long while idk why, Magna Carta might have been the album that did it
