I min Nolan already has a proven successful franchise project with wb with billions in revenue. Dune is a much smaller franchise box office wise and the one Villeneuve was involved with before that (blade runner) was a flop. I think Nolan has a different pull and people don’t wanna admit it on the account of ‘quality’ of their movies which is entirely irrelevant
