People love hating on stuff that's' universally loved. Lots of film fans get mad and act like Nolan's worse than he actually is because they want to balance out the Nolan worship. It's idiotic. I've seen people hate on Nolan's classics as an attempt to prove their "film knowledge" or some s***. Like "I don't like The Dark Knight because I'm a REAL film fan. Not a normie."

Nolan's one of the most talented and successful filmmakers active right now (possibly ever?) who makes incredibly unique quality entertainment. Let people like they want ffs.

Preach, brother. Denis and Nolan both equally great. Really hard to choose one or the other tbh.

Not being a fanboy here, but I think Nolan has a good bit of an edge up on Denis.

Nolan writes every film he's a part of (Denis rarely writes the scripts he directs) and Nolan has made more films, each of which have been more ambitious than the majority of Denis' work. However, they both have crazy work ethics and attention to detail, and I don't think it's unreasonable to say Denis is getting the chance to be in a similar position as Nolan. This movie (following BR2049) will make or break that for Denis.
