Dune and Tenet the most hype i am for movies this year, that’s it

I was just having a chat about the movie and was reminded that they split the book in half but aren’t shooting back to back, WB most likely won’t green light the second part if this doesn’t sell

It wouldn’t be an issue if it was a low budget movie but this movie is gonna cost a lot, the massive cast? and all the set stuff? this is very ambitious compared to what it’s most likely gonna make at the box office

Sure it’s still a movie by Denis, who has some credit but more so in the movie buffs category, like what’s the audience for this? if BR2049 couldn’t make big numbers, this is gonna be a niche because i wouldn’t say Dune has a cult that would generate enough hype

I’m just worried because the movie will probably have a story that isn’t closed, and no matter the talks and promises by Denis and the owners, I don’t see a big future for that

Yeah unfortunately I think it’s doomed.. the way I see it tho is that it’s cool we’re getting a movie at all and that seems expensive, if it fails at least it tried so, and like this is as good as it’s gonna get so that’s why I posted this, let’s be grateful for that and not go in expecting to get the big thing out of it like some MCU stuff

with the budget and the December 20 release, I feel like this movie will be too big to fail. I can see it perform similar to The Rise Of Skywalker. It definitely needs to break a billion for a sequel to be greenlit. They are positioning this to be the Christmas blockbuster and with Denis’ acclaim, he might pick up some awards in January which will help with longevity.

I’m sure they’re doing everything for this to have a good window, and I’m not worried about it getting some awards either

But will the trailer for this really get your casual moviegoer or even youtuber reaction dude excited or react at all? Like how can you sell a part one of Dune in 2020 as a blockbuster? I’m sure youtuber reviewers will love to talk about it, people that knows Dune because of Lynch or the book, but that’s still a small demographic compared to what it costs, at least enough to cover a sequel

Why y'all keep bringing up BR2049, like Denis didn't make Sicario (which got a sequel w/o him) and Arrival which made 4x its budget?

Because these are two original films that are more grounded concepts and are WAY lower budgets too

BR2049 is the only comparable scenario to Dune here

All speculating about this flopping is nonsensical when there isnt even a trailer out yet. You cant compare it to blade runner just because both movies are science fiction from Denis. This has a huge cast and will look completely different, the trailer could creat immense hype, just wait for it.
