As a stand alone movie I'd rate this an easy 9 out of 10

As a strict adaption I'd give this a 7 or 7.5. Key plot points were translated really well, but one major plot point is missing. I'm sure they'll still work it into the sequel but the payoff won't be as good with the missing build up.

The overall quality of this movie easily irons out the issues though and the 2 1/2 hours fly by quick as f***.

as a standalone its missing some things i really enjoyed in the book and some pacing which was different than i expected

overall its very, very well done because the dune book is really hard to adapt into a movie but theyve done a great job at it IMO.

some sequence changes and some deeper meanings and just some overall words / themes and plotpoints are just completely skipped

as a book fan i hope theres a directors cut
