lol not saying no film maker on his level but do they evoke the same level of emotion or take same risk in their medium to subvert unknown ?
My main guys do Lynch, Noé, Jodorowsky
there’s plenty of people that find new ways to take risks
Like i said he’s goat but film & game narrative are too different

I love jodorowsky and need to give lynch another shot but they never gonna give jodorowsky a huge budget to make a sci-fi or anime like anything I wish they would

They probably wouldn’t but i highly doubt that’s even something Jodo would want to make at this point
But you were talking about filmmakers taking risks/evoking emotion overall
Hows the score
It's good, sets the mood perfectly but lacks these catchy Leitmotives Zimmer is known for so nothing really stands out

There's that main theme that pops out all the time I thought it was nice
Very good movie, visually immaculate, no surprises with the story tho but it's ok
I need that part two now
second viewing done
Guessing you liked it a lot, how was the second viewing?

liked it even more imo because i went into it knowing which things from the book will not be in it so that little disappointment i had was gone
just still got some pacing issues and need part 2
feel like ppl are judging this movie unfairly at times because imagine reviewing lotr and only fellowship of the ring, story in that is weak aswell because its just the first part

Definitely yeah, I think it's kinda bad that the marketing didn't mention it was only the first part I think that ki'da built up a false expectation... What we get to see in this movie tho
so hyped for what's coming next
Finally saw it last night! It was amazing
but also not the instant 11/10 I was hoping for.
Visually it looked amazing obviously, but I was surprised at how grey and dark it was. There were almost no colors in there, which I guess has to do with the nature of the "death planet" Dune and the fact that living there is almost impossible. So in the end it was a fitting choice, but different from what I had seen before. I saw it in f***ing 3D (Imax) tho, which, as expected, added no additonal value at all (the opposite was the case) and made it seem darker than it really is.
What bothered me was the PG13 rating. These kind of fights just need to be bloody man. The studio is obviously to blame here, but I guess you can't really blame them, since they need to make money back and we need a part 2.
The pacing was really, really fast man, the 155 minutes ran by like it was nothing. I wish the movie was much longer. The ending came at the right point, but I would have loved a slower pacing and more scenes with the characters, especially those that we wont see again in part 2. I hope there will be a directors cut, Im sure Denis had to cut a lot for obvious reasons.
The soundtrack was fantastic and definitly different from Zimmers prior scores. I agree that there wasnt that one outstanding theme tho.
I can't wait to see this again. Next screening I will watch it in 2D, unfortunately probably no Imax then because of these f***ing money w**** theaters here that only offer Imax 3D
I'd give it a 9/10 after first watch. (I've only rated like three movies a 10/10 ever tho, so that doesnt really say anything lmao)

Surprised this has a fast pacing. Would expect a film like this to have some really slow moments and then pick up near the end.
Great review tho fam.

It has slow moments, but there is just so much going on in the book, so much to adapt. For general audience it probably wont seem that fast tho. I wouldnt have minded a BR2049 pacing, but yeah, I guess thats impossible if you want a part 2..
