2049 was pretty robotic though 🤨

That’s my only problem with the movie tbh. I got white savior vibes from the casting. I Lowkey wish they made Paul and his mom arabic. It was kinda weird seeing his mom in that royal attire which looked like highly arabic and she’s a pale British woman

But his family isnt arabic tho

Loved this. Film flew by and looks just how you’d imagine

Only real gripe was that some of the side characters and plots didn’t really get much of a moment like they do in the book. Kinda hard since Denis utilized the 2.5 hours pretty well already. Frank Herbert never wanted a chapter or page when writing the story so when anything gets left out I noticed even with my fuzzy memory. Maybe I’m speaking too early also

Curious to where this picks up next film and how they expand on this world

Watching this really emphasized 1. How damn massive this story is and 2. The fact that Lynch had to cover the WHOLE story in less time than Denis took to cover 50-60%

The Atriedes lineage ties back to Greek iirc. Also the entire theme of the book series is about saviors or rather the dangers of relying on a savior.

Amazing movie. Even the most meaningless shots looked stunning

Lynch really did an amazing job with the original. That film had a great cast, costume design as well. My issue with both is screen time but I get it, studio probably spent a fortune already.

Arabic influence on them sorta I guess. Closest thing really is Fremen. I don’t really think it’s much of a valid criticism tbh. For the most part it’s all an amalgamation of different cultures, not just one.

God damn this really exceeded my expectations. Denis movies just hit different. This 3 movie run he’s on is all time

I wouldn’t mind if the next film went a little deeeper into the cultures of the different houses and the politics of the imperium. I’m a nerd I wanna know the motives behind the emperors decisions.

My one criticism would be the costume design. Would’ve like more colors.
