I never understand what Backlava deal is w/ Villeneuve

In some posts he hates on him and other posts he talks about how Villeneuve is in his top 3

I thought the "hero-story" itself and the ending were underwhelming but all the rest (how the world works, the climate stuff, the spice concept etc) really interesting .
