How much you betting on best picture? What’s your max for @Jonboi and I ?

Depending on how good Furiosa is I’d probably do $50 each. Not betting a ton on a movie just for a gotcha moment.

  • kiddash3r

idk why you are trying to be smart or snarky about this but its clear in multiple shots that they are setting up her pregnancy nausea.
not the same as the book but leaves a pretty clear impression on screen

Montage is one you cut together two images to relate them to one another. That's visual story telling.

Plot red herrings are for TV I'm afraid. Denis told me so!

It’s true that I said that I said that laughing. So when I said it, I put a lot of emphasis on “I hate dialogue.” I don’t hate dialogue. I am not inspired by scenes that are overwritten with dialogue — that’s the truth — and I’m talking about my own work.

Of course, a lot of directors are brilliant dialogists, and there’s a lot of strong movies that are filled with great dialogue. But if I think about my own work, it’s ideal for me as a filmmaker to try to avoid the use of dialogue as much as possible. I think dialogue is the tool of expression for theatre, and then it became, for other reasons, one for television.

I will say: in a perfect world, you should use dialogue only when there are no other resources It should be the last resort — that’s what I’m saying. When I say “I hate dialogue,” it’s not true. I don’t. But it’s true that I feel, myself as a film director, uninspired when I read 500 pages of dialogue. For me, it’s boring.

You really hated it this much ?

    Possible spoilers ig

There are good things and bad things obv. I liked the first one better and I didn't love it or the book.

Bardem is fantastic. Butler is great. They're having a little fun with it. It needs that. Otherwise I'm stuck in Zach Snyder joyless ugly hell. Movie looks like the Yeezy potato sacks.

The mom is pretty good too but the sharpie on her face is dumb as hell. I think the tech is cool in its function. They toned down the Black Hawk Down score.

Idk the first movie goes a lot faster. I don't need any of these convos. I don't care about the love story. I thought Herbert world building was good for detail in economy and ecology. Taking it seriously as a religion or philosophy ain't it

“Zack Snyder joyless ugly hell” are you referring to lack of color , dark brooding plot with little levity that takes itself too seriously or what ?

It was also the talking about tv . I agree there is a thing as too much dialogue . Staring off into space with camera close ups is a tired trend to me in tv and film

Yes, and as far as the tone goes I think Bardem and Butler take their roles seriously but manage to put a little levity in it. Bardem 's character is so lived in. Even a serious line has life to it. He's a touch goofy. Butler gets to find his villain delivery.

If Adam Driver played Paul I think he'd find something too. That's what you need tbh. Chalamet is so flat in this they clearly touch up his vocals at one point to make them gruffer.

Zendaya looks like a tall child. Idk what you do about that. Cast her as a tennis player instead?

Chalamet has never done it for me but going to watch more of his work . Zendaya kind of looks younger than she is but she booming in star power market . Cool on euphoria I guess

I've only seen him in French Dispatch which I also didn't care for. He looks like a Stranger Things kid to me. S*** might as well be Finn Wolffhard in there.

I gotta watch his Euro s*** IG. Wonka first then the artsy ones
