bro maybe im gassing myself up but i rate up this with up there with classic space fantasy movies like mad max fury road, return of the jedi, empire strikes back
that s*** was amazing i need to see it again

that scene with Paul.. you know which one.. whole theater was frozen
Lisan al Gaib!!!!!!!
that scene with Paul.. you know which one.. whole theater was frozen
My only complaint is the pacing of the plot, they really had to cram so much of the plot in 165 mins, I wish they made the movie 15 mins longer and gave a couple of plot points a few more scenes to just let us take in and breathe a bit, especially in the first half of the movie. For instance, when Stilgar sends Paul on that test trip across the desert, we don't even see him undergo the trip except the small scene with Chani and then he's immediately a part of the Fedaykin in the next scene, basically.
If LOTR got away with 180 - 200 mins long movies and were still very commercially viable, I wish they took that risk and made them that bit longer to give us a few breaks in the frantic pacing.
It's not a major gripe for me, and the final third of the movie delivers so much that by the end of the movie, you forget the small things like that, but looking back on it, that bothered me a tad bit while watching the movie.
Still a masterpiece tho, considering the sum of all the parts and the hugely satisfying finale, IMO.
The soundtrack has been on repeat since yesterday, Hans f***ing snapped
Not sure where my “Lea Seydoux hive we won” post is ITT but Lea Seydoux hive… we REALLY won
I feel like this movie is one great scene, cut, next. Another great scene, cut, next. Another great scene... I get it, it all makes more sense if you read the book. But, for me, as someone who hasn't read the books, I felt like I was being bombarded with completely new information every 10 min or so. It wasn't hard for me to follow because the significance of the famous actors behind these roles implied how important they were based on how they were typecast in past movies. But, if I didn't have that information I think I wouldn't have enjoyed this at all. The character development and pacing, particularly with Paul and Jessica felt so rushed and Disney movie perfect, no conflicts, no big setbacks, all it needed was some musical song in the background about how you to can make it if you just believe in yourself or some BS like that and Stilgar is the perfect supportive side character comedic relief and everything.
I wish this movie had more dialogue or indirect narration by Irulan to help carry the story along, for those of us like me. I understand that Villeneuve said big screen movies shouldn't be about dialogue but I feel like it was a disservice to skip over Herbert's beautiful prose, because the few things that were being said gave me more goosebumps than any of the visuals. I think Part Two as a whole is okay but there is so much going on, it's expecting viewers to be far more familiar with the lore than Part One. 7.5/10
mad max
we must be missing more like lol
Oh I consider mad max different but I like fury road better than dune 1 in every single way

Hmm Did this make you want to read the book or see it again or just frustration that its a combination of scenes? You word your gripes well with constructive criticism of how it could work better for you personally.

I don’t think Mad Max is space fantasy though. Great franchise either way.

I agree on this it’s more fist of the North Star not space at all for me
Now that you show me this I need a review…
Hope this drops on max soon. I already know there’s tons of details I didn’t catch in the theatre.
