great movie
think i like part 1 a little more tho
Me too
It was more poetic
What did you rate the last movie?
Id say 4/5, Villeneuve doing his thing as always, but lots of setup so not nearing any classic status or w/e
I liked it
Saw it last night. Mastapiece
Liked the pacing in part 1 more but that was to be expected. Cinematography in part 2 was just as amazing as the first but because of bigger story pieces s*** was even more breathtaking. The harkonnen arena scenes alone were works of highest art.
Zendaya felt underutilized, but Timothee’s performance was great as expected. Javier Bardem always been my goat and he brought a ton of life to Stilgar.
Might be up there as my favorite sci-fi film of all time. Gonna rewatch it probably this weekend. Need to re-read it too there’s some parts I don’t remember and I also recall not being able to follow the battle in the book as easily.
As I recall with Part 1, it was almost an entirely different style of movie, with how exposition-y it was and how leisurely it got to be.
I can see why someone would like that one in a unique way compared to 2, and I can also see why some people were bored with it at times
As someone who read the books (multiple times) the part 2 kinda left me with mixed feelings. If you never read the books I fully understand that there's legitimacy in feeling like it's a near 10/10 movie.
But when you did read the books it's hard not to feel like Villeneuve took a lot of liberty here which in the end doesn't fully convey the beauty of Dune.
The slow paced approach of the first volume was the perfect way to approach the book imo while the 2nd volume felt like everything needed to be dealt with, no matter if rushing it was the only option, to move on to the second book.

Actually it’s 5, as in me having seen Interstellar in IMAX 70mm five times

the only tricky thing is that they're with Sony now aren't they? They left WB last year. Wonder how that affects how Messiah is distributed moving forward
