The amount of thought and care he put into both these movies leads me to believe he's gonna absolutely nail Messiah, even if there's changes made to the story. We have nothing to worry about imo

Do these movies differ much from the book?

Nope not by much. There are some changes in supporting characters' arcs but overall the quality and theme and feel is still there. Some things are changed for the better too.
