he's just a creepy little guy, you know people gotta hype up everything these days
The hype up everything era needs to end

like i gets a major part of every movie cycle but i'm just not that type be leave a movie and be like "masterpiece" "greatest sequel of all time" right away. I gotta sit with s*** for some time before I say all that. I've learned to not get caught up in it all.
The hype up everything era needs to end
The being negative about everything that is hyped before you see it s*** you always do needs to end
There is no hate in asking people who’ve seen a movie to without spoiling describe what made it magic or work for them ? I said I was going to ask this because 1 didn’t click for me so I need to here how it improves from 1
The reason the praise is so high for Part 2 is cause the first movie literally ends at the exact moment that the book starts ramping up after dumping tons of exposition on you. But Villeneuve executed the visuals and setup for the first film. So due to the fact there isn't much going on in Part 1 besides Atreides fall Part 2 had tons of action, conflict and moments (from the book) for em to cook with.

not a Zendaya fan whatsoever but she had one of the best performances of the film

hated her in the first lol
Little let down by Austin butlers character. He hardly did s***.
Ppl gotta stop wit the “omg the new dark knight joker” comparisons
I consider the casting as a cameo honestly cause his character in the book is kinda just fodder for the climax

1 was a 3/5 for me or 3.5/5. It was coo. Had some of my favorite shots in it tho.

No she’s great in this. Probably best performance.

And it’s prolly my fault for stumbling across that comparison, but I think if I didn’t read that before hand my expectation wouldn’t have been as high for his character.
They took so long to introduce him so I was thinking, oh s\*\*\*, he’s finally here, nigga bout to cause f\*\*\*in mayhem…and then nothing
I’m all for enjoying but most of past 5 pages is simply “ greatest of all time “
That’s not why I personally come to a forum I’m a nerd trying to know how someone did or didn’t emotionally connect what made it special for them
For me, as someone who didn’t read the books, a big part of why I wasn’t crazy over the first movie was, to put it simply, I didn’t give a f***. Part One didn’t do a great job of getting the audience invested in and attached to the characters and the story it was trying to tell. It felt moreso like a sequence of events in front of a pretty backdrop more than it felt like a captivating story being told.
So I walked away from the first movie impressed by the scale, cinematography, and mildly intrigued by the world building, but totally unsatisfied on a character and story level. Not to mention the ending which was completely abrupt and anti-climactic.
Yes it’s a Part One, I know, but every film should be its own complete vision start to finish. If superhero movies can get criticized for too much setup sometimes, there’s no reason Dune shouldn’t be able to as well. Also, Part Two wasn’t even confirmed at the time of the first film’s release, so just imagine if we had never even received the sequel.
Part Two, on the other hand, was a totally different experience for me. The directing and cinematography was still incredible, yes, but what stood out to me this time was the characters and the emotional depth. As someone who didn’t really think much about the Dune universe 48 hours ago, I now can’t get it out of my head after seeing Part Two yesterday.
It draws you into this world, makes you care about every character’s motivations, has you thinking about the different ideologies and beliefs of each group in the universe, and it feels like there are real stakes at hand this time around. It also makes you question some things about the real world that are becoming more and more real every day. If you read the book you’ll know what I’m talking about, if not you will see.
This is one of the greatest science fiction films ever made, and it really feels like a masterclass on every level imaginable. Directing, writing, acting, editing, scoring, mixing, pacing… it’s all phenomenal.
If Part One had flashes of brilliance, then Part Two is the complete aurora borealis
Also in regards to the dialogue, and the dialogue comments, these movies are adapted from the books, I haven’t read them but I’d assume they served as a good guide for the dialogue?
Most adaptations I’ve seen will straight up take dialogue from the book, and I’m talking dialogue goats like Tarantino and Scorsese. Not sure if that’s the same case here.
Oh he rating this 2 stars not the first movie ? Imma sit this out yall scammers if this is as mid as first movie and yall pretending its the coming of Christ again
I don’t think they are pretending, I think they genuinely loved it, it’s an awesome movie.
Everyone has different taste, if you end up disliking it that doesn’t mean “they pretending”
At first I didn’t get the hype for Fury Road, and it took a couples tries but that doesn’t take away from majority of people genuinely loving it.
To answer the “emotional connection” question, it’s too soon for me to give an answer, I have to see something a few more times to even know if there’s an emotional connection. Only seen it once so far. But what I did see was something awesome, good story, got a little confused at times but that’s due to me not remembering all the set up from Part 1 (and not reading the book)…..I mean it’s a huge spectacle with amazing visuals, dope soundtrack, good pacing, and depth behind the characters.
It’s our generations Star Wars that we get to witness in real time, crazy hype is inevitable.
