Simultaneously one of the best and worst viewing experiences of my life. Longest 2 hour movie oat, but don’t know if I have ever been more impacted and devastated after watching something.

Threads is about the long term aftereffects on society from civilan perspective. Havent read the book but the description in OP sounds like that book is more about the political/ military perspective when and right after nuclear war breaks out. Def sounds interesting af

More like Fail Safe (or a serious Dr Strabgelove) then, which is also amazing btw

  • Could this be the smaller movie he says is coming before Dune 3?

As much as I enjoy the Dune films I would love for him to get back to a mid budget low stakes movie

This seems like another tentpole event film

yea he needs to return to those some point in his career. his best work was that mid point. prisoners and sicario were genius. arrival forward just dont have the gravity those two have for me, as much as i love the sci fi stuff

  • denis works like he on a birdman contract i swear to god

Incendies was a great great over looked movie as well imo

I think he made great mid budgets but I’m sure he enjoys these blockbusters as well

it's interesting to see where he'll go from here - it feels like he's been catapulted to the a-list & will be expected to only pump out blockbuster hits now. I'd love to see him scale back down & collab with a cool writer again (like with Sicario) but he seems more drawn to high concept sci-fi stuff now
