Just sounds like a worse Rich Amiri
There are so many rage/trap rappers why latch to this mid
which is crazy to me because the Ian defenders keep hiding behind the excuse that "it's just music" and his race has nothing to do with it
if it was really like that they'll stick to Amiri, Osmason and the million people that are no different from him but hey it has nothing to do with race huh

bro make them feel seen & feel cool as opposed to casual listeners who don’t care about hip hop fr let alone the music they listen to

Exactly. when there are better popular rappers in his same style and genre why promote this guy in particular.
I can understand Yeat he's good and was putting in the work. Ian is a plant.
just heard a song from that ian fella for the first time.. who the f*** is listening to that bullshit
He’s decent for what type of music that is. Its respectable from a persepctive of this is the evolution of Drake and Lil D***y type s*** / a more mainstream ready version of the yeat formula. Clever bars here and there and an understanding of punchlines and s***
At the same time i think theres a lot to dissect about why he can lap someone like kenny mason as fast as he did and what that says about rap now
the tyler interview was literally my first time hearing about this Ian cat. still never checked his work and i have no reason to based off the description Ace gave

Kenny mason has more in common with JID than Ian…
The only comparison I’ve seen that makes sense is Yeat and Rich Amiri. He’s basically those guys if they rapped on bricksquad beats

F*** what Ian represents - and this isn’t a compliment nor insult - but there’s some strong novelty going on with the guy and that’s essential from what I’ve gathered in artists that blow up
Sadly the novelty here is all weird s***. Kenny Mason doesn’t have any novelty he’s just really really good
Tyler hasn't made a good point since cyber bully tweet
it's so weird how obvious it is that there's this whole section of rap fans who crave white artists for nothing more than their white skin. not saying that's all they want to listen to, like im sure there's people who only listen to white rappers, but I'm also speaking on the people who just want to have a white rapper in their rotation no matter what. like they gotta show some love to the white guy, whoever that may be at that moment.
the second they break even somewhat mainstream, white rappers got it made fr!
I worked with a white dude that would play music at work and one day I started noticing it was Eminem, Aesop Rock, Yelawolf, Mac Miller, MGK, NF, even Die Antword at times. It was like dude would listen to any rapper as long as they weren't black lol
So is it not ok that there’s white rappers..or is that not allowed anymore?

What this question got to do with anything?
Yung lean bumping same s*** by flocka and slim Dunkin / says he influenced by 50 and 36 / raps over (black beats) himself . You can do this all day with blue eyed rappers.

ian and lil d***y are completely different artists. d***y is a comedic rapper who just viewed hip hop as a medium to enter the entertainment industry and ian raps about expensive stuff on trap beats
Look an already established white rapper is using a 2009 era zaytoven beat and using Chief keef voice inflection
To me saying Tyler has a point is like saying "yeah you know what? the government is corrupt"

this clears whatever audio terrorism that was

I comprehended it fine lol. I just don’t think people have as much of a fascination on what the race of the rapper is. If that were truly how it was, we’d see white rappers being way bigger than they are which in reality that isn’t the case. Half the white rappers of recent past don’t blow up like that, it’s a select few who go mainstream mainstream. In my opinion, if we’re saying white people are choosing to listen to more white rappers I would say it’s because they are favouring the style in which they rap (playing it safe as a listener, not diving deep into rap and stuff they don’t usually listen to). A lot of white rappers are rinse repeat which is why only certain one’s tend to blow up because they step outside of the box that they tend to get put in. Idk if that makes sense, I just don’t think it’s strictly because they’re white that they’re being listened to.

Yep
A subtle undertone of rap since 2015 altogether. You gotta be a character, maybe even a new one before your foundational skill matters
