Sleeping pills for insomnia but they worked TOO good so I stopped

As someone who used to be on Zoloft, I can assure you nothing will help anxiety more than finding meaningful relationships where you can be yourself at, having a sense of purpose and a goal you’re working towards, and staying physically fit and exercising regularly

The thing is those are all harder to obtain than a pill, so I see why people become addicts and die and become even more anxious and depressed.

To the topic of mental illness, as someone who was just on a legal hold last week for “suicidal ideations “ trust me when I say the “mental illness” spectrum is HUGE

I’ve met people who constantly talked to themselves and would giggle about how h**** they were just to find out they believed they were talking to their psychic girlfriend whose in another state

I’ve met people convinced their cellphone was stolen and sold for one million yen to a rival government in order to tell our troops not to come home

On the tamer side but still very crazy I’ve met people who were mostly incoherent and would only talk about their love for pork ribs, Jesus Christ, and their desire to one day work at a Ross dress for less

It really makes you stop and appreciate how intact your mind is. Depression and anxiety are awful but saying you’re mentally Ill because of them are disrespectful to those who REALLY are suffering in their head

Facts bro, there's a huge difference between people who are letting their thoughts get the best of them and clutter their mind vs. people who can't even discern or control the thoughts that are coming to them

When I stayed in a mental hospital I was around ppl like me who was mad depressed/dealing with "bipolar" and anxiety but then on the other hand there was ppl like a girl who was a Jesus freak and screamed at the top of her lungs in the middle of the night when they were trying to give her meds. To have enough mental stability to begin cultivating your thoughts in order to get out of depression is a blessing in and of itself.

I get that this is semi-joking, and there is a convo to be had about people using mental illness as a shield from accountability for their actions, but I feel like over all we do need to be more careful and understanding when it comes to people who have diagnosed mental issues or disabilities.
Trust me, those aren’t just meaningless terms, at least they aren’t all that way. There are some that can and will f*** you up.
That’s why, in my opinion, we have to put forward more energy into understanding the mental issues people can have, and how to handle them in a way that helps everyone
