Jay-Z is a billionaire. He doesn't NEED to work with massive retailers like this.

If he truly wanted Jay-Z could have done his research himself, found a few black owned Vinyl stores, and come and gave them an exclusive product to boost their business, and notoriety. He may have not made a profit, but this could be no different than charity and donation.
And something like this could make it so there IS a mainstream black owned Vinyl shop that ppl could easily reference.

I don't personally care about Jay-Z doing this. But acting like one of the wealthiest people in music is shackled to working with Target, and incapable of making power moves like that is silly. Ppl look at Jay-Z to make influential moves more than others because of his status.

No major mainstream artist NEEDS to work with Target, yet they all do because Target is one of the very few major retailers that still sell vinyl records in stores.

The other two options are Walmart (racist, terrible working conditions) and Barnes and Noble (bookstore, not as much foot traffic as a department store).

No major, stadium-selling artist is gonna go to locally-owned vinyl shops to wide-release a new vinyl. Sucks, but that’s reality
