I’m sure a song before it used it, but the first time I remember hearing muddy 808s without kicks is on bank account and he produced it. Yea, metro coproduced it but i never heard a Metro beat like that.

I even remember the first time I heard it. Them 808s was the ugliest thing I ever heard.

Now that’s all I hear everywhere. Yea, it sounds cleaner nowadays, but Pepperidge Farm remembers

    Yes indeed
    Krazy but true
    Going bad
    Life is good
    Desires
    Me (summer)
    Yikes (ye)
Yea choppa won’t miss had kicks, but them 808s was muddy

Niggas was hatin on them 808s when it dropped. Yea I hated, but it didn’t stop me from bumpin. Them 808s prolly why ice ran down. Who knows?

even if he didn’t invent it, what are y’all thoughts on these kickless beats?

Edit: 21 ain’t invent s***, but it’s the first hit I can remember with such muddy ass 808s n no kick

NahMetro did. Co-production by an artist is usually nothing more than ‘artist x’ being present in the creation of the beat

Travis Scott was credited for skyfall and we all saw how that went down

When asked about his production on the track, 21 stated, "'Bank Account' was just straight me. Metro just dragged it out to make it long enough for me to rap on and added the little pauses in the beat and bringing the beat back. But the melody, the bass, the sample, the hi-hat; I did all that s***."

Still wonder why heartless fell so brazy off the charts.

I have a hard time believing 21 produced the song when Metro is right there. But he did that grime accent thing on it so maybe u right

Why u say they ass? They simply the whole kick 808 relationship.

I don’t think there’s a need for the tradition form to go away, but damn, the s*** kinda took over.

Who do U think sounds good over it?

Arranging the beat is like 30 or 40 percent of making the beat at the very least. But the sound and loop is basically what the song is, so I give credit to 21 for making a hit with those sounds.

It’s cool without the kick except when they distort the 808s too much and play it too high and it doesnt even sound like a bass sound anymore

Id rather feel the bass than hear it so if it doesnt have a kick to balance it out it sounds awkward

Works well for thug sons tho, baby gunna keed etc, basically if wheezy produced i guess
