really the hiatus did but i guess it kind of counts since he was doing mr robot around that time
even though its one hell of a intro mixtape i just hate that 1999 is like the only thing anyone remembers from him these days cos it wasnt like that as he was coming up, summer knights is just as good and B4DA$$ is his best work
To me it honestly seems like he’s known for all 3, maybe that’s just because I was a fan. Talked to a lot of people that have each one of those as their favorite
gotta wait 6 milleniums for a traditional new york boom bap rapper that does poppy stuff sometimes to drop around mid post 2014 thats not an Appealing experience
HOV sat him down and tried to sign him,
Tried to sign several different acts including Nas & Lupe
ngl seeing how j cole was going why didnt he just do dis
he literally won and Oscar and got a beautiful baby moms out of it before pivoting back to rap full time
thinking acting did it when this terrible s*** exists

a lot of people was still keeping up with him all the way through B4DA$$, that’s his “mainstream” project if he was to have one
not inherently. 2 distant strangers did irreprable damage &nd outside of 'mr robot' nothing else in his filmography has struck a chord.
it was moreso a string of mid projects that didnt live up to his debut tapes.
also he's still younger than JID so idk if he's completely dead in the water a la thread title
Not really. Him wanting to be a more "mainstream" crossover act but not knowing how to write that type of music did. Devastated was okay but every attempt after that has been horrible. Then he kind of regressed lyrically and slowed down his flows into a more laid back version of the rapper we always knew him to be.
