When WLR came out--the general population shat on it. But 10 months later, we've now seen it prove to be influential, and spawn an entire wave of artists follow what Carti did on that project, and rap over similar type beats (specifically beats like Control, No Sl33p, King Vamp, Die4Guy--also Long Time from Die Lit).
Yung Fazo, Yeat, Ken, Destroy Lonely, Kashdami (his new single Intermission), SoFaygo, etc. have all followed suit and done similar sounding songs production wise (a lot of them have done their own thing with it, especially Yeat). Or, in an artist like Trippie's case, he's crafted an entire project essentially ripping off that type of sound.
This seems like a consistent thing--when Carti started hopping on Dro/Plugg production, everybody on SoundCloud followed suit (yes, I know Diego Money was the first to rap over Dro beats, but Carti popularized it), and the same thing happened with S/T when Carti introduced the world to Pierre.
Has the same thing happened with WLR? Or am I just bugging
And another thing--even though there's been tons of artists to rise with this sound, which one do you think will stick and last? Who will transcend this fad?
"rage" sound is like 90% just copies of miss the rage beat
I think there should be a real term for the sound ur talking abt tho, w the aggressively artificial synths, no lie snare, blown out 808s, hi pass square/saw waves
lowkey I think if we picked something and just used that name consistently its a wrap
@tupacarti any ideas?
im thinking maybe cyberpunk would be a cool name
matt ox going to transcend cos he's the only one matching carti WLR passion w the vocals + he was heading that way pre-WLR
I see Yeat and faygo transcending the wave for sure. I could see destroy lonely and ken as well. I’m not sure if carti created the wave though but he certainly popularized it
It bums me out to see the genre become so saturated so quickly

OUT at this tbh

crying at the snarky Diego Money sentence

hope i'm wrong cos yeat is sick but i can see him burning out
Probably, not for the better though that Trippie album was certified dogshit
Not many artists can actually rap well on these beats, Ken is probably the best artist who consistently raps on rage beats

You just made a thread out of my post
So just to clarify, are the rage beats the Control, Die4guy and King Vamp type beats, or the Rockstar Made, Stop Breathing and New Tank type beats?
