FlyHiiiI liked the leaks but i'm so glad WLR didn't turn out to be Die Lit 2.0
I was so caught off guard by the fact that the album didn't sound like every other trap influenced album of the last couple of years. It really grew on me and it's safe to say this is def my fav Carti album now

I have a lot of love for V1 of WLR - Vivienne Westwood, Molly, Back Up, Pop Bottles etc etc. All great joints
But (assuming) that that was the type of material that WLR V1 would have been comprised of, yeah it would have felt like an extension of the Die Lit sound
The version of WLR we got hits so hard because it successfully subverted expectations and introduced an untapped sound. WLR is inherently punk because it's a rejection of the expectations that both people had for the projects sound, as well as a reaction against the sonic tropes we constantly hear in trap music that Carti has helped pioneer
Beyond that, the WLR we got is Carti at his most transparent and raw - Punk Monk, Control, F33l like Dyin etc - and for that reason it represents a progressive step forward in his artistry rather than a regression.
Perhaps my only criticism is that I think we lost a lot of great material during the projects evolution from V2 into V3. I'm hoping that some of that material surfaces on the deluxe/Volume 2
