I'm pretty sure I f***ed up badly. Checked my email last week and noticed I received a critical security alert allegedly from google. Someone attempted to sign into my email using my password. I don't know what I was thinking but for some reason I clicked the link to check activity and change my password. The sign-in was from Indonesia but I changed my password using the link in the email. And didn't think much of it

Fast forward to today, I received a Paypal create a new password email and a kik change password email. I haven't used kik in 5 years Changed all my email passwords for each linked email address, enabled 2 step verification and deactivated any old social media accounts that used these emails.

What else can I do to prevent any further damage? I ran a malwayrebytes scan too.

First of all, ALWAYS check the email address these are being sent from

Do you use the same password for multiple accounts? Change everything ASAP, start with your bank account any any other accounts like amazon etc. that may have your cards linked

the kik password request and the other blocked sign in attempts have me the most worried. Is somebody out to get me or what? Feel like im being targeted by a person who knows my email

Looks real good thing they blocked it but would still change your passwords for other sites you use

Hope everyone turns on google 2FA. Their implementation is pretty out of the way and it saves your life lmao

Isent there something you can buy or download that will search the net for any service or account linked to an email?

  • Jun 19, 2020

similar situation happened to me bro.

Someone tried to purchase a $2600 camera off amazon then tried to transfer $1000 out my account. I had to open a new bank account.

    • Run anti-virus software (which ever is your preferred, i use comodo which is free )
    • Run anti malware (free) malwarebytes.com
    • Run an anti root-kit (free) malwarebytes.com/antirootkit

    • Manually change every password you have (i'd recommend doing it on an unaffected device) and set up 2-step authentication on everything that has it. Also change security questions if you can.

    • NEVER SAVE PASSWORDS ON GOOGLE CHROME. There's huge security flaws in it. (I don't recommend saving passwords on any alt. app either.) Write them down. Yeah it's tedious and old fashion, but trust me it will save you from another situation like this.

*Use different passwords for everything. Never use the same password for any site.

*check your emails daily for any fishy activity, and never click on any links unless it's confirmed from an official email.

naw they got my bank login through chrome's password save s***. They didn't even bother to go through my paypal but I changed every password I had, and it ended up being around like 120+ passwords
