Started a new job a month ago, going well, getting compliments, etc.

Yesterday morning I was nauseous, then I started throwing up, tried to make it in but end up calling out. Boss said it was fine, said he just had the flu, and to take today if I needed it too. Called today cause I’m still sick as a dog and boss seemed pretty annoyed and kinda passive aggressive.

I offered to go in on Saturday to catch up on the work.

My new job I go in and out of other peoples homes so it’s pretty impossible to work while sick. But boss seems annoyed and I’ve never really had him seem like this before.

What you guys think, did I screw up? Start looking for something else? Start groveling? Or am I just being anxious and it’ll probably be fine?

Yea you did mess up. You offered to come in on Saturday when you shouldn't have and now he got you labeled as a sucka.

how did he seem passive aggressive. Put what he said or u might be overthinking it

You have to stand up for yourself @op
If you keep working while sick, youre only going to be sick for a longer time. I’m sure you’re more useful to your boss fully recovered

Could of been annoyed for a number of reasons, some people find it difficult to put aside the emotions they're currently feeling if that makes sense.

If you're fully sick, theres not a lot you can do.

never understood bosses who get mad about calling in sick for more than one day (i understand why that was rhetorical please don’t answer for me).. like who the f*** only gets the flu/sick for one day + do you really wanna risk infecting the rest of your staff and potentially having even more employees call in sick the week after because of it?

Rest up. Your health takes priority. If you don’t look after yourself no one will.

  • Jan 5, 2023

doesnt help that youve been there a couple weeks max. but health comes first so it really should not matter.
