It isn’t.
It’s a story about the trans people in his life and how he overcame prejudice from the period he was raised in and the church, and learned to think for himself, putting family over hate.
The F slur was a perfectly acceptable storytelling tool in the context of the song.
yeah, i understand the song completely. the reason why i said he shouldn’t say it is because he’s not queer
ofc you can say it’s art and that it matters in context but there’s a reason why i have that same problem when non black people read the nword out loud in huckleberry finn or in to kill a mockingbird, or a play that uses the nword “the right way”
Does @op have CTE?

so if Post Malone made a song talking about how he was raised by racists & uses the n-word a bunch of times to convey how commonly he used to use it, you’d have no problem with it?

Different situation. I’m LGBTQ and I understand what he was trying to say with the song. There is no gotcha moment.

different how? Kendrick directly compared the two in the song itself

You’re an annoying troll, I’m not going to pretend the N word and the F slur are anywhere near the same level of offensiveness.

i’m just quoting what Kendrick himself said on the very song we’re discussing
he said it’s only okay for straight people to use the f-word if white people can say the n-word
whatever you’re tryna argue is completely different

this is literal identity politics. there's no "worse" slur.

the larger point is that neither is Ok. anybody with comprehension skills past a 2 year olds could understand this

okay, so we agree that neither is okay
so Kendrick using the f-word on that song is just as okay as Post Malone making a song about growing up racist & using the n-word throughout to show just how racist he was

Yeah you’re right. I should’ve worded it better.

Sure, in the made up situation where that happens I guess its fine with me

that’s where we disagree i guess
i don’t think either use is/would be acceptable
and, since this is likely to come up in this discussion, i also don’t find it okay when white actors use slurs in movies to depict racism

then you’re dumb and sensitive and apparently just take everything at face value. Have a great day!
