In my opinion it still is very important, I will tell you why: First of all, it would change history, they would forever be the first on that peak, and if the camera was found it would likely prove wether or not they made it. This is the kicker tho: Some say the chinese got to it first. A camera crew found mallorys body in the 90s (no camera tho) but when they went back to pay respects the body was gone. There were also reports of a body which mustve been irvines, but nothing was found at the described place. Most likely the chinese found the camera and destroyed it along with the evidence. That's because the first expedition to succesfully scale the everest from that side was chinese, and they use that as justification as to why they can lay claim to the region. However, if mallory and irvine reached the peak earlier, that would destroy that narrative and bring up talks about independence.
