Another hack I recommend is getting your own Sennheiser or Shure microphone that way you can always control and keep your vocals consistent across venues. Especially if you move around a lot. Some mic’s don’t like a lot of movement etc. If a venue gives you a bad microphone regardless how good of a performer you are the audience won’t connect. As someone who’s done opening shows like that I suggest either making/choosing songs that are very close to the voice you have to use live and that you can rap live all the way through
Crowds that don’t know you will show way more respect and get into it more if you rap an entire song front to back and you’re just locked into your own s***, of course engage with the crowd but if you act like the music is more important it kinda makes you seem like a bigger act than you are from my experience
