And from my understanding yes, but not to this extent. Bush was a moderate/liberal conservative, so I’d imagine a lot of Reagan Republicans on the right were also happy to see him out of there.

Right, I was just giving you the general view that republicans generally are seen by the media as the bad guys. The last democrat who got cheered out of office was Jimmy Carter when Reagan kicked him out. Bush Senior is the successor to Reagan so people were on his side as far as people can be on the side of a republican. But you got to understand that Clinton was a young charismatic man, sort of like Barack Obama. They were very happy Clinton won. As far as I know this is how the recent elections went

    1960 - Euphoric with JFK
    1964 - happy with LBJ
1968 - kind of mad with nixon
1972 - Very happy with Nixon
1976 - Very happy Carter won
    1980 - Euphoric Reagan won
    1984 - happy reagan won
    1988 - indifferent to bush
1992 - very happy clinton won
1996 - kind of happy clinton won
    2000 - mad bush won
2004 - kind of happy bush won
    2008 - euphoric obama won
    2012 - happy obama won
    2016 - mad trump won
2020 - happy trump is kicked out

Bush was the OG National embarrassment. People called him a fascist and literal hitler and a lot of the same stuff they call Trump. While Trump makes him look like a borderline genius now, Bush always came off as pretty dumb and sort of like a yokel during public engagements( and just generally wasn’t a great representative of our country. There was also a lot of controversy over the results, and Bush was another guy who won while still losing the pop vote.

It’s not about celebrating a new president winning, it’s about worldwide celebration a president was voted out of office
