I remembered this song out of the blue earlier, and even before I saw the comment that made me make this thread, I thought that it was pretty ahead of it’s time.

But somebody said “This is what Carti thought he was doing on WLR”, and while it seemed like a stretch at first, I actually agree that this is a precursor to that sound in a lot of ways.
There are undeniable sonic similarities in the vocal performance and the production. Even the flow wouldn’t sound out of place on any recent Carti songs.

Not to mention Purrp and Tracy both calling themselves vamps for years, and we know that Carti fw SGP and Lil Peep, so he definitely knows Lil Tracy as well.

In no way am I disrespecting WLR, I think it’s probably the best album that’s come out in the past 3 years, but I do think that there’s some credence here.
