Lowkey, when Kanye beat 50 Cent during that sales battle and 50's career went downhill, that was ironically when EDM and other music started the replace hip hop as the primary dance-based music at clubs.

Just an observation from someone who remembers that post 07 Blog Era.

European styles took over around that time. Lady Gaga doing electropop, 80s synth sound revived in mainstream, Black Eyed Peas doing David Guetta stuff, Daft Punk doing their very influential 2007 tour. I can remember US mainstream music being much slower and less electronic.

True. I was mainly talking about America.

It seems, during the Blog Era, rap hits were more catered towards pop radio than the urban club scene.

Some songs like NIP and Stay Schemin can still turn up a club today but hip hop used to have way more danceable club bangers before that.

Disco Inferno was considered "mid" by rap purists when it dropped but the song now gets tons of love on Tik Tok and hip hop dance classes cause of how catchy and danceable it is.

Crunk music had tons of bangers too.

Im saying European styles and producers took over the US mainstream for a while

In the Kanye Sway interview, they give him an electronic beat and Kanye says "oh its really european", the older generation knows it

I think that era is gone though and now US mainstream music is back to getting slower and more rhythm based again Lemme know if u agree

  • May 26, 2022

No this is the Tik Tok era, every song has a dance. Idk what y’all talking bout

  • math fifty

I bring this up cause in another thread cause someone said there hasnt been a danceable rap song in years and unironically the last one I can think of was Toosie Slide

It seems like as far as mainstream rap goes its being carried by like street s*** and the only one really carrying danceable music is Drake rn

And by club music im talking Hip Hop / R&B not EDM

nah just everyone scared to come out and party now

    Less European? Sure.

But trap/drill songs today are more geared towards vibes and chilling than dancing/turning up.
