Kid f***ed up when he went on that Twitter rant acting like he was bout to drop sumn that would change the sound like a DBR, LLA, SFG
Or that he was dropping something pivotal and subversive like an 808s and TPAB
Capped his own knee to everyone that wasn't already on board lol
Hiphopheads posting
Ironic because y'all try to attribute hiphophead rules and accolades to people that aren't even in the realm
Snatching communities while making fun of them
“Hiphopheads” being an insult now is why niggas be asking what happened to rap lol
Rap has been ruined on the backs of niggas trying so hard to be cool
I think it's fine to clown hiphopheads if you really not on that
But these desperates be clowning hiphopheads while trying to bigup their artist with the same rhetoric, terminology and culture of hiphopheads lol
Pick a lane
Another thing both sides in this thread are missing tho lol
Almost all lyrics read as s***, and even worst without any context - it will always come off wrong when read straight up

Not true

I wanna f*** you hard on the sink
After that, give you something to drink

Reads fine. Lot of personality in that
Not true
Highly disagree
You need some kind of context to begin with, even poetry does that
And personally I have never read lyrics straight up that is just plain text on a post and thought of it by itself as crazy - part of why "YouTube comment" Rap comes off goofy, or why artists that post lyrics ahead of a song on like twitter back in the day like from weeknd, frank, Drake, Kendrick, wale etc. wasn't insane but the song and/or context changes it
Highly disagree

nah it just depends on how you approach reading them based on prior context
you can see someone type “Jesus” and “God” somewhere in the bar and think oh brother here we go, but once you exit the misconception you might go
actually hold up, bruh talking i just didn’t like how i read it at first lmfao
U hatin breh breh its ok
This is actually a defense
Someone says itt Mink says bullshit
Someone posts his lyrics without any context, most of the time their own post is in pieces and not even formatted correctly
Then the person clowns them
Highly disagree

There is writing that reads better out loud or sounds better in the context of music. There is writing that is actually worse under those same conditions. And there absolutely is writing which is undeniable on the page.
And songwriting is a bigger picture than lyrics. It's concept. It's structure. It's tone management. It's narrative. Kendrick Lamar is a better songwriter than he is a lyricist. A lot of lyrical rappers couldn't write a song to save their life.
great songwriting is so underrated. u are absolutely spitting , it is more than just lyrics

Yeah but the key phrase is prior context
Ppl itt aren't even formatted lyrics correctly here so the flow of reading is already botched
Then your disconnected from the context of the subject, not only the music and tone itself, but also just that you're getting snippets of text and not the whole
Poetry and technical song lyric writing have formats for a reason and a set up of their paper - something plain text, and especially disconnected and shuffled plain text, will never convince a hater or stand out to a neutral
There are exceptions to the rule but this is why this always falls flat in most casual internet discussions

This i agree with but i guess my main point is moreso the presentation of said writing and information
Which is why it works in a poetry and technical context, but in loose casual conversation where it is properly conveyed is why it glazed over most people eyes and brain - and this isn't even getting into the self made "meta context" of a conversation like this to begin with, of where you are already at opposition with each other and it is being seen as a "impress me" competition thus you are on a losing foot from the start even with technical skill of format and presentation
But overall, just why I think this angle never works in these kinds of plain text "debates" - all context is lost, all presentation n format is lost, and overall it's just a pissing and teasing contest

that’s fair, I guess the context in a YouTube lyric would be the beat you’re hearing lol

I can't count for s*** but u bet with language arts i always killed it - part of why every 3rd post of mine is a major yap fest
I ain't really like the album that much but these lyrics was legit hard to me idc
I'm with Juno, countin' up blue notes
So many cards in my wallet like Uno
Tryna get high, man, I really feel too low
Turn the other cheek 'cause I know something that you don't
Really make this rap s*** look so easy
Now all these British teens really wanna be me
Made my own beats, now they calling me Yeezy
Young millionaire, man, I feel like Weezy
He be spitting when the lyrics don't sound like you walking into hot topic

Yeah and u don't know the flow or the cadence and coming it up on the fly
Above tho to Benny I think I wrangled out my overall thought and breakdown 💀

Ironic because ASAP actually did what this kid is trying to fake doing with having a sound that changes the landscape
I think slightly different
