69 is not a real artist to me. he only does things for attention. he is not trying to make music, just make a spectacle.

Trinidad James wasnt a meme rapper tho
    He was serious

right but he started this s*** anyway by accident. the public didn't know he was serious. they made this track go viral even though it wasn't exactly special.

Soulja boy was a ring tone rapper and became a meme rapper AFTER Lil B started buzzing with the pretty boy swag skinny jeans thing.

I know these exist but he became a somewhat "serious" dance/ring tone rapper for a minute and was crossing over into gangster rap territory until he met Lil B and embraced being Based.

He got signed shortly after dropping these songs and the label cleaned them up and redistributed them plus got him lookin fresh/marketable. If he woulda never blew up off crank that I’m sure he woulda stayed making joke songs. Def true about his trajectory after meeting b tho

I hate when labels do that but I guess he benefited greatly from major label polish.

On another note... I remember downloading an old pre-interscope track from him where he was dissing a bunch of local rapper. It was pretty raw but I can't remember the name of the song at all and wonder if it even exists online anymore.

It has a happy ending though, dude made that independent money, started his own record label, has a shoe deal and is apart of a pretty popular sneaker and fashion web series.
