  • I wasn't really into hip-hop back when it dropped in 2011, tho I do remember Ni**as in Paris. I have always wondered what the hype would've been like when it dropped. The two biggest artists in the world dropping a proper collab album, would've been insane. I guess something equivalent to this day would be if we got a pablo era Kanye with Drake?

For the guys that do remember that time:

How big was the hype around this album?
What was the fan reception to the album?
How did other rappers react to it?

    Side note:

Got this question when I got recommended this video:

What would be the equivalent at this moment right now?
    Cole x Kendrick?

  • Jul 19, 2020

Niggas In Paris was f***ing huge. The tour was also pretty big.

Yeah. It seemed like at first it might not too after HAM, how the whole project bounced back with tracks like Otis and Paris shows how culturally strong it was. Those songs still get played today.

It's the bar for mainstream collab projects almost 10 years on and has the biggest Hov/Ye song of the 2010s on it. The tour and the fashion was a big moment too.

A few years ago it would have been Drake and Ye. Maybe Wayne and Drake a bit before that. It's got to be two legends from different generations both still killing it.

There's no proper equivalent in hip hop anymore to 2011 Ye/Hov that I can think of. Which shows how unique the moment was too.

  • Jul 19, 2020

Of course, these rappers weren’t on maison margiela and givenchy like that before WTT. By 2012 all you heard were high fashion name drops

  • Jul 19, 2020

It was like two of the biggest artists coming together and dropping a crazy ass f***ing album like imagine WATBA but bigger that’s WTT
