Saw some people discussing this in a thread @punk made and I thought it deserved a dedicated thread. I think I prefer rodeo rn, but I love both albums.
Rodeo
it comes down to personal preference though cus they are pretty different

Agreed. Rn I prefer rodeo, but I’m sure there were times in my life where I would’ve chosen die lit. Both gonna go down as classics.

this is a hot take but I don’t think either of them are classics even though they are both really good and influential
Die lit has way more songs that really didn't need to be on there whereas rodeo arguably only has a couple, so for that reason I have to pick Rodeo
u know that judicious use of clapping sfx toward the end of 'right now'? travis scotch tape would have added a guitar solo and some c*** blowing a trombone followed by bon iver jerking off, and the song would be 7 and half minutes long

aside from 'bathtub the size of my swimming pool' comparison is inadequate

I think the only argument that can be made is they aren’t classics yet. It seems pretty clear that these albums specifically are some of the most talked about and universally loved of their respective lanes meaning that the areas of music that they occupy will most likely be remembered by these albums. If that doesn’t make them classics idk what does
