Bram Stokers Dracula…Rain People
I feel like all that is the role of the producer. But if so why are Directors so acclaimed. All that seems basic
They make choices like what take to use, directions like how actor should express an emotion. You've never seen a movie set? The dude who is sitting in a chair.
You can't really make a Tarantino movie without Tarantino, or Denis Villeneuve movie without Denis, you can in theory copy them and hire the same people but ultimately they came up with their own style.
Director makes decisions on the field and producer provides money, and maybe gives some directions (that may lead to more profit or say that film should be PG).

you ever watched the original 150 minute cut of Apocalypse Now? It's imo the best version. While it may lose the psychedelic meandering that the redux version has it's far more focused and pretty suspenseful imo.
josh trank. Chornicle was cool, but then he responded with two of the worst films ive seen
The guy who did Parasite (Parasite)
Memories of Murder
The Host
Mother
Snowpiercer
Okja
The guy who did Parasite (Parasite)

The guy who did Parasite (Parasite)
Did you even watch his other films lmao
Obvious troll post
They have already been named but the director of La Haine and the director of Donnie Darko
his Repulsion and Macbeth are also masterpieces
Polish debut Knife In The Water was amazing too
Cul De Sac great
theres a reason Rick Dalton whispered his name in hushed tones in Hollywood like he was already a mythological character by 1969 and it wasnt only because of Rosemarys Baby. dude was really a midget king of cinema by then. reminder that he grew up in a nazi concentration camp and so can portray the darkest s*** imaginable with no "pretence".
I don’t wanna make excuses for the guy but I never really put two and two together that the psychological combination of growing up in a concentration camp and then being thrust into the anything goes cultural libertinism of the 60’s where every respected philosopher at the time was arguing to get rid of the age of consent would probably do a number on your brain. This isn’t no devils advocate s***, he’s a scumbag for what he did, it’s just interesting to realize that context.

Pretty much every French post modern philosopher made that argument at the time but it was a consequence of them deconstructing western moral truths and claims about normative sexuality. A lot of their work was good, they just went too far with it.
