I enjoy talking about the songs I love but also find it just as interesting (if not more so) to talk about the behind the scenes stuff, the production of a track or the history behind certain stuff as well. Over this holiday I realized my sister (who I used to talk about music with frequently) solely cares about talking about the music and doesn’t care about all the other information about her fav artists or songs.
Which camp do you fall in? Do you enjoy both? Do you discuss one over the other?
I got in a long diet tribe about how the word stan has literally been co-opted and flipped to be almost a positive on social media now when before it was a way to demonize obsessive music fans. I thought that discussion was pretty interesting but my sister was like “Yeah crazy fan kills his family this song is very dark, have you heard Kim” and I was interested that she had no say about the external stuff regarding the song
I enjoy both. lowkey wish every album i loved had a documentary behind it, showing studio sessions, reactions to beats / finally finishing a song... music itself & the world around it is pretty interesting

This is a good question. A lot of people just care about the music and not so much about the lore, which is fair. I like looking at all the factors surrounding the music, delving into an artist's discography with no context is pretty hard in my opinion. Sometimes, people go too far with the gossiping s*** around artists and it's better left alone, there's a line
